Coach Brenden Troster has been training in the martial arts for over 20 years, and holds two
National Coaching Certifications through USA Wrestling, as well as instructorships in Jeet Kune
Do, and Filipino Martial Arts. USA Wrestling Coaching Certification requires extensive education, annual background screening, and training in US Olympic SafeSport policies, to
protect, empower, and support athletes so they may attain their full athletic and human potential.
In 1998 after years of study and training in JKD and other arts he began accepting his own
students and has enjoyed teaching a diverse student body that has ranged from youth, military
members, and even a former nun! Brenden has a dynamic hands on style of instruction and a
unique ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each student. Brenden’s coaching
philosophy is to guide people to achieve their personal best, on and off the mat, through
integrating the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle.
In addition to his martial arts training Coach Troster has an extensive education that gives him
insight into how human beings learn, develop, and retain information. Coach Troster holds a
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and completed a practicum at Mayo Clinic's addiction treatment clinic for his Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. Brenden works full-time as a
Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at a local residential behavioral health clinic
for children and adolescents and is completing a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology.
